UAE Users Can Now Make UPI Payments: All the Information You Need

Through a new initiative introduced by NPCI International Payments Ltd in partnership with Network International, Indian visitors and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the UAE may now enjoy easy and safe transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Through this partnership, Network International’s vast network of point-of-sale (POS) terminals throughout the United Arab Emirates is able to accept UPI payments using QR codes.
In the Middle East and Africa (MEA), Network International is a prominent facilitator of digital commerce, with over 200,000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals spread over more than 60,000 retailers. These retailers are from a variety of industries, such as supermarkets, transportation, lodging, and retail. With the help of this program, Indian tourists and non-resident individuals (NRIs) can trade with ease and security at a variety of businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and tourist destinations like Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.
Network International’s point-of-sale (POS) terminals will gradually integrate UPI. This will make it possible to facilitate cross-border payments using a safe, secure, QR-based technique. Paying with UPI at any Network terminal in the UAE will be possible for Indian visitors and non-resident Indians (NRIs) who have Indian bank accounts.
Take these easy steps to use UPI in the United Arab Emirates:
Verify Merchant Compatibility: At participating merchants, such as shops, eateries, and well-known sites, keep an eye out for the UPI emblem.
Scan the QR Code: At the POS terminal, use an app that supports UPI to scan the merchant’s QR code.
Enter Payment Amount: Enter the amount of the transaction and check the information.
Finalize the Transaction: Utilize your UPI PIN to verify the transaction.
By 2024, it is expected that 9.8 million Indian tourists will have visited the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations; the UAE anticipates 5.29 million of these visitors. Business and leisure travel are the main drivers of this expansion. With a dependable and safe payment option, the new UPI payment service seeks to improve these travelers’ travel experiences.
Network International’s approach is in line with the growing desire for contactless transactions and the trend toward digital payments. The UAE hopes to draw in more Indian visitors and non-resident individuals by using UPI, giving them an easy way to keep track of their spending while visiting.
The partnership between Network International and NPCI International is a major step in improving financial inclusion, enabling cross-border digital payments, and fortifying commercial relations between the UAE and India.
