The AI “Jio Moment”: Mukesh Ambani Pledges ₹10 Lakh Crore to Architect India’s Sovereign Intelligence Era
NEW DELHI. February 19 2026. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries stood before a group of global tech leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. He announced that Reliance Industries will invest an amount of money, ₹10 lakh crore over the next seven years. This money will be used to build an artificial intelligence system in India.
Mukesh Ambani said that this is the start of the “Intelligence Era” for India. He said “Jio connected India to the internet now Jio will connect India to the intelligence era.” The main idea behind this plan is that India needs to create its artificial intelligence system. This will stop India from depending on countries for artificial intelligence.
Reliance Industries will first work on solving the problem of not having computer power. Mukesh Ambani said that the high cost of computers is a big problem for artificial intelligence in India. To solve this problem Reliances new division, Jio Intelligence is building data centers. These data centers will be able to handle a lot of intelligence work.
The biggest data center will be in Jamnagar, Gujarat. It will be one of the artificial intelligence training centers in the world. Mukesh Ambani said that the first part of this data center will be ready in the half of 2026. It will provide the infrastructure needed for Indian companies to train their own artificial intelligence models. These data centers will use power, which is a clean source of energy.
Mukesh Ambani also talked about bringing intelligence to every part of India. He said that Reliance Industries will deploy an Edge Compute Layer. This means that artificial intelligence will be available on every device from shops to rural clinics. It will be like having a vessel that provides everything you need.
Reliance Industries will also work on developing an intelligence platform that supports all 22 official Indian languages. This platform will be called Jio AI Bharat. It will be used to develop four applications: Jio Shiksha AI for education Jio Arogya AI for healthcare Jio Krishi AI for farming and Jio Bharat IQ for general use.
Mukesh Ambani said that artificial intelligence will create jobs not destroy old ones. He said that Reliance Industries will work with Indian Institutes of Technology and other institutions to create a system where people can use intelligence to improve their lives.
The main goal of this plan is to make sure that India has control over its artificial intelligence system. Mukesh Ambani said that if India does not build its artificial intelligence system it will have to depend on other countries. By investing ₹10 lakh crore Reliance Industries is trying to make sure that India benefits from the intelligence revolution.
