Air India partners with Delhi Metro and DIAL for international check-in convenience.
Air India has teamed with Delhi Metro and Delhi Foreign Airport Ltd. (DIAL) to expand its check-in and baggage drop services to foreign customers. This service will be available at two metro stations in Delhi—New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium—from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., beginning immediately.
The new facility allows international passengers to check in their bags at specified metro stations, allowing them to enjoy the city without carrying heavy luggage. During this time, passenger luggage is safely transferred to the airplane using an advanced automated system created by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and DIAL.
Previously solely available to local air travelers, this service will now greatly benefit international passengers. According to Air India, travelers can check in 12 to 2 hours before their domestic aircraft departs and 4 to 2 hours before their international journey. The metro operates every 10 minutes; therefore, it takes just 19 minutes to reach the departure level at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3, making the process speedier and more efficient.
“This initiative not only provides a cost-effective option for travelers coming from distant locations, but it also helps to control airport congestion, resulting in a better experience for all of our customers.” “This initiative will significantly improve the convenience of our customers,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India.
The new check-in facility at metro stations is intended to allow outstation passengers to explore Delhi without carrying their bags, as they will be handled securely and swiftly. The program aims to alleviate airport congestion, providing a better experience for all customers.
Air India’s engagement with DMRC and DIAL demonstrates the airline’s dedication to improving passenger convenience and optimizing the travel experience. The airline expects that by combining city transportation and airport services, international travelers will have a smooth and hassle-free experience.
As the service launches, it is expected to set a new benchmark for customer ease, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to travel logistics and passenger happiness. This collaboration is a significant step in improving the infrastructure and travel experience for both domestic and international passengers using Delhi’s metro and airport facilities.
